World Health Organisation favouring China on Coronavirus, says US President Trump

US President Donald Trump had blamed China for the present situation across the globe. The world is paying a heavy price because China hid information on the Novel Coronavirus, Trump said. Now, the US President has made serious allegations against the World Health Organisation (WHO) of favouring China. President Trump accused the WHO that the partisan position it had assumed in favour of China, was unfair.

Michael McCaul, a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States, levelled the serious allegation against the WHO, that it was favouring China. McCaul underscored that Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, had long-standing relations with the Chinese regime. While addressing a press conference at the White House, President Trump took a stand which endorsed the accusations McCaul had made. As he answered questions in this respect, President Trump said that the WHO was indeed favouring China.

Although it made no direct mention, the WHO is unwilling to pin the responsibility of the new Coronavirus on China, from where the pandemic had originated and is trying to advocate the Chinese stand instead, President Trump has suggested indirectly. The US President’s position may put the WHO under tremendous pressure.

Previously as well, President Trump had delivered the message to the world that China was responsible for the pandemic, by referring to the Novel Coronavirus as a ‘Chinese Virus’. The US stand on the issue is indicative of becoming more aggressive soon. Moreover, President Trump’s remarks make evident that the United States will not spare anyone who sides with China.
