Diplomatic cooperation between Russia and Israel is completing three decades. Against this background, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will visit Russia on coming Friday. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a message to the Israeli Prime Minister, which was published in the media of both countries. The Russian President highlighted the historic cooperation between the two countries in the message. President Putin also said that Russia and Israel need to come together for the challenges of the future.

Putin said, ‘Over the last few decades, Russia and Israel have gained much experience with fruitful cooperation in many areas, as well as partnerships in resolving major international issues.’ The Russian President made a suggestive statement ‘The Russian and Israeli interests will complement each other in establishing peace, security and stability in the Gulf sector.’ Before this, in June, President Putin had sent a special message to Naftali Bennett after he took over as the Prime Minister of Israel. The Russian President had said Russia and Israel have to fight those promoting Nazi ideology and denying the contributions made by the Russian Red Army during the second world war, while the Jews were facing genocide.’

As per the information given by the Russian media, hatred against Jews has almost subsided in Russia. It is claimed that this is the result of the tough stand adopted by President Putin. But Alexi Levinson, the thinktank ‘Levada Centre’ chief, had issued a serious warning in this regard. Levinson warned that the day there is a change of guard in Russia, ending the Putin rule, the hatred against Jews will peak.

After Joe Biden took over as the President of the United States, their significant changes have affected the United States’ foreign policy. The United States has now taken a strong stance in favour of Iran and a strong stand against Russia. Israel and Saudi Arabia have stepped up cooperation with Russia to counter the United States. Taking advantage of this, Russia is also systematically increasing its influence in the Middle East. This is the background for the vital message that the President of Russia has delivered to the new Prime Minister of Israel; it reveals the restructuring in the politics of the Middle East.
