Uttarakhand erects QDA for communication during emergenciesUttarakhand shares its borders with China and Nepal and the Chinese activities in this area, are on the rise. The Indian telecom networks are not available in the inaccessible areas and it was revealed a few months ago that the locals are using Nepalese SIM cards. Against this background, the deployment of the QDA system implemented by the Uttarakhand government becomes significant.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister inaugurated the system. The QDA system is used by the paramilitary forces and ‘National Disaster Response Force’ (NDRF) in cases of emergency. The importance of the system increases as a state has implemented the system for the first time. QDA system will prove beneficial in the inaccessible regions with networks and other communication systems problems. In case of a crisis situation developing in Uttarakhand, a voice and even video call can be placed over the QDA system. The system can transmit data from places where no networks can reach.

Static and mobile are the two types of system. Static QDA will be installed in the State Disaster Management Authority in Dehradun and other important places. Whereas, mobile QDA can be carried, to the location of the disaster, in a helicopter. Senior government officials said that the QDA has been successfully tested. 248 satellite phones have been distributed to areas where networks are inaccessible. It will facilitate communication with the people from the inaccessible areas, in emergency and crises.
