Beijing: China has reacted to the announcement made by US President Donald Trump, regarding the US Space Force. Chinese foreign ministry accused that the US Space Force is a major direct threat to the peace and security of space. At the same time, China accused that the United States has violated the international regulations, with the establishment of Space Force.
Two days ago, US President Donald Trump announced that the Space Force has become active, as an additional military command of the United States. President Trump had said that space is the new battlefield of the future and given the threats to US security, the domination of the United States in the sector becomes imperative. At the same time, President Trump indicated that the Space Force would prove beneficial to counter the challenge posed by Russia and China in space and any future space wars.
Nevertheless, China has strongly objected to the creation of the sixth US military command. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said, ‘China is seriously worried about the US Space Force and China is bitterly opposing it.’ This US decision is against the international convention of using the space, only for peaceful purposes. Shuang claimed that the Space Force would destroy the balance and stability in space as also peace and security in space will come under threat.
Shuang blamed the United States of making excuses to justify its action in space. Shuang appealed that an independent agreement be formulated for the use of space and a discussion should be held for it. Spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry said that all the leading countries in the space sector should come together for this.
Before China, Russian President Putin also had expressed doubts over the US Space Force.
Meanwhile, President Trump had said that the Space Command would be the Unified Combat Command for all space-related challenges. Trump had also emphasised that the threat from Russia and China is the main reason behind the formation of the US Space Force.
