He has also appealed to North Korea to send their contingent to participate in the Winter Olympics to be hosted by South Korea in coming February. This proposal from the South Korean President has been accepted by North Korea and a special team has been appointed to discuss this matter. The two Koreas will have their round of discussions on next Tuesday, in the demilitarized zone of Panmunjom, on the North Korean side of the border.

US President Trump has welcomed this discussions initiative between the two Korean nations. While talking to the reporters, after the meeting in Camp David, the US President expressed hopes in the Korean discussion initiative. Mr. Trump said “The discussions with respect to the Olympics is a very important and big step. If these discussions are successful, it will be in the interest of millions of citizens of the two countries.”

When asked “Will the US will be getting into discussions with North Korea, like the South Korea?” President Trump said “I will definitely like to discuss. But the US will get in to the discussions with the North Korean Leadership at the right time and with a right set of conditions.” This statement by the US President is being hailed by the South Korean media.

North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un had threatened the US of a nuclear strike only last week. Some time ago, the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had said that the US is ready to have discussions with North Korea. Subsequently, President Trump had countered Tillerson’s statement by advising not to waste time in discussions with North Korea. Before that he had referred to the North Korean Dictator as ‘Rocket Man’ and ‘Mad Man’. In view of this, President Trump’s willingness for discussions with North Korea is being welcomed.
