But White House Press Secretary, Jane Psaki clarified that there would be discussions between the US President and the Israeli Prime Minister soon. us-white-houseDuring the election campaign, Biden had threatened to isolate Saudi, responsible for killing Jamal Khashoggi- a columnist in ‘The Washington Post’. Against this background, Biden seems to have started moves in the direction of cornering Saudi, after taking over as the President. A few days ago, US State Secretary, Blinken announced the decision to delist the Yemenis Ansarullah group from terrorist organisations. This decision is clearly against Saudi, carrying out attacks on Yemen and Iran welcomed the decision.

It is claimed that the Biden administration will deliver more jolts to Saudi Arabia. Significantly, the Biden administration has made preparations to release the information, related to the Khashoggi killing, in possession of the US intelligence agency, CIA. Reporters and analysts are saying that with this the Biden administration will be making all the possible efforts to bring Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in trouble. The talks have also started, whether the Biden administration will pull the Saudi Crown Prince, down from the position.

The US Senators have started appealing to the allied countries like the United Kingdom to stand firmly against the war started by Saudi in Yemen. Nearly 99 voluntary organisations from the United States have started demanding to stop weapons supply to countries like Saudi and United Arab Emirates, launching attacks on the innocent Yemen population, causing a major humanitarian crisis. The support in the US media for this and the Biden administration’s moves indicate that the pressure on Saudi will increase tremendously in the near future.

Despite this, some journalists have warned not to have a false notion that President Biden will get Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman replaced. Mohammed Bin Salman has created a vice-like grip in the Saudi government. It appears that it will not be possible for Biden to pull him down. As per these journalists, currently, Saudi has developed relations with Russia and China and with this, Saudi can adopt a policy to confront the US Pressure. Therefore, these journalists believe that instead of going after the Crown Prince down, Biden will try to protect Saudi’s US interests. Whereas, one group in the US media has expressed satisfaction that the effects of the pressure exerted by President Biden on Saudi, are already apparent. This group in the media is demanding that the Biden administration should maintain the pressure on Saudi. Saudi and other Gulf countries have started cooperating with Israel on the Iran nuclear program issue. Opponents of Biden are claiming that this matter could pose a threat to the US interests. At the same time, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, who were supporting the Iran nuclear deal, have started to take a stand against Iran. Therefore, indications are that President Biden is posed with a challenge to get the desired changes in Saudi, simultaneously confronting the European countries and Middle Eastern countries. While formulating the policy regarding Saudi, Biden administration will have to ensure that no intense reactions are received from the Middle East and Europe.
