During the World Economic Forum held at Davos, President Trump said that the Travel Ban was imperative. The US President pointed to the terror attacks, political instability and the resultant immigrant waves. While answering a question, President Trump said, “We have to be safe. Our country has to be safe. You see what’s going on in the world. Our country has to be safe. Considering the situation, there is a need to include more countries in the list of Travel Ban.”

US President to increase the number of countries in the 'Travel Ban' listThe details regarding the countries to be included in the US Travel ban list are yet to be disclosed. President Trump has declined to comment on it. But as per sources, along with countries from Asia and Africa, some European countries also may feature on the Travel ban list. As per sources, along with Belarus, the countries Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania also may feature in the concerned list.

Before this, in 2017, President Trump announced the Travel ban, for the first time. Citizens from Iran, Syria, Yemen, Libya and Somalia were there in the list along with North Korea and Columbia. The list also included Iraq and Sudan, but President Trump later omitted these two countries from the list.

President Trump’s decision came under severe criticism at that time. But Trump said that this ban was imposed because these countries were not willing to cooperate by providing E-passports having biometric data and sharing the information of each of these passengers with the United States, important from the internal security point of view. Trump justified his decision saying that the citizens of these countries can pose a threat to US national security.
