US President announces aid of $50 million to minorities in SyriaSenior opposition leaders from the United States accused Trump of betraying the Kurds by withdrawing the US military. Leading US media also warned that with this US military withdrawal, the IS would rise once again. Following that, even the European countries targeted Trump.

But President Trump justified the decision referring to the wars in the Gulf, as meaningless and pointing to the trillions of dollars squandered on these wars. Trump had also assured that the Kurds would not be left alone saying that the Kurds have been provided with funding and weapons against the previous cooperation and will be supported even in the future and Turkey will not be allowed to cross a particular limit.

This stand adopted by President Trump and the announcement of USD 50 million in aid, for the security of the minorities in Syria, indicates that the United States has not withdrawn its support to the Kurds. Stefany Graham, the spokeswoman of the White House, while giving information regarding the President’s decision clarified that the security of the ethnic and religious minorities in Syria will always be the highest priority for the Trump administration.

While announcing the US aid, the White House spokesperson, expressed a wish that the other allies from the Gulf and in the other parts of the world, also will contribute financially, towards stability in Syria. Following the announcement, President Trump has adopted an aggressive stance on the conflict between Turkey and the Kurdish people. He reminded that the Kurds had withdrawn from the Iraq conflict, despite the United States being with them. Trump also pointed out that the Kurds had not supported the United States even during the second world war.
