New front by US and allies to maintain pressure on China

Washington/London: The United States, along with its allies, have formed a new front to stop the Chinese arrogance on the international level and maintain the pressure on China. The front includes 18 lawmakers from 9 countries. It is believed that the political conflict between the United States and China over the issues of unfair trade and Coronavirus pandemic has reached the brink of a cold war. The front formed by the United States indicates the same thing.

The group named ‘Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China’ currently has 18 members, and Senators Marco Rubio and Robert Menendez who have consistently raised voice against China in the US Congress have taken this initiative. The other prominent members are Ian Duncan Smith, the main leader of the British ruling party, Michael Brad, spokesman of the German ruling part, Miriam Lexmann and former Japanese Defence Minister General Nakatani. US Senator Marco Rubio justified the formation of the front saying that China, under the communist rule, is the biggest threat to the world.

The front published its first statement on Friday. The statement talks about the issues China can be targeted on and ways to do that. ‘Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China’ pointed out in its report that there is a need to take aggressive and coordinated steps in the future, saying, ‘China is trying to rock the international systems based on regulations. Some countries tried to create obstacles in these actions against China. Those countries had to pay the price for this.’ The front highlighted five issues for a comprehensive conflict against China.

These issues are a security of regulation based international systems, human rights, promotion of fair trade practices, development of mutually beneficial defence policies and prioritise the sovereignty of the countries. The statement also says that although currently, there are only nine countries in the front, the extent may increase in the times to come. The nine members of the front are the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Japan, Australia, Norway, Sweden and the European parliament.

China has fired a salvo of criticism at this new front formed on the initiative taken by the United States. Geng Shuang, the spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry, retorted that the western leaders should give up the cold war mentality and biased ideologies and should stop interfering in the internal matters of China for political interests and benefits, by respecting the international relations.

Meanwhile, while the United States is forming this new front to rock China, President Trump has issued a new order cornering China. As per this order, it will be binding on all Chinese companies operating in the United States to submit all the information to the US agencies. If any Chinese company fails to submit the report, the company’s registration will be cancelled. President Trump said that this order was being issued for the security of the US market and investors.

This is the third major decision taken by President Trump against China in the last two weeks. A few days ago, President Trump decided to impose sanctions over the issue of Uyghur people and also imposed an entry ban on Chinese students and researchers.
