US and Australia appeal to Japan to join the anti-China alliance

Washington: The United States and Australia agree that countries in the region must have the right to determine their destiny. But in the Indo-Pacific region, the ongoing aggressive and dangerous activities carried out by China challenge this common vision of the US and Australia. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned that China’s actions in Taiwan, islands in the Pacific region and the East and South China Sea are challenging regional peace and stability. The US defence minister also announced that the US and Australia were determined to strengthen military cooperation against this. Also, the defence ministers of both countries have appealed to Japan to participate in this cooperation between US and Australia.

US and Australia appeal to Japan to join the anti-China allianceAustralia’s Defense Minister Richard Marles has been on a visit to the US, and he held talks with US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin. In this discussion, further strengthening the defence cooperation between the two countries was agreed upon. Especially in the background of the instability caused by China’s dangerous and aggressive activities in the Indo-Pacific region, the defence ministers of the United States and Australia called on other countries in the area to participate in their military cooperation. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Defence Minister Richard Marles urged Japan to join in the military cooperation between the US and Australia. By the end of this week, Defense Minister Marles has said that an invitation to participate in the US-Australian army cooperation can be given to Japan.

In the discussion between the defence ministers of the US and Australia, citing Russia’s attack on Ukraine, it was suspected that China would also take such action in the Indo-Pacific region. Defense Minister Austin and Marles have claimed that China’s irresponsible activities in Taiwan signal the same. However, while involving Japan in this military cooperation and appealing to other countries in the region, it was explicitly seen that the mention of India had been deliberately avoided. Earlier, the QUAD organisation of India, the US, Japan and Australia was established, and there were claims that this was a strong front against China.

However, after President Biden came to power in the US, he limited the organisation of the QUAD to sloganeering only. Biden tried to downplay the importance of the QUAD by starting the AUKUS alliance of the US, UK and Australia. After that, the US has been trying to begin a military front by separating Australia and Japan from India, now the QUAD partner countries. India’s refusal to take a stand against Russia, as per US demand, signals that the US has been plotting to isolate India from the anti-China alliance.
