More than 100 terrorists have been killed, in more than 50 encounters, in Jammu-Kashmir since January, this year. Still, the activities of terrorists have not stopped. Against this background, TMG will work on more effective actions against terrorists. Governor of Jammu-Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik had announced this, in March. Governor Malik informed that this unit would be acting, not only against the terrorists but also will act against their sympathisers.

Malik said that terrorism could not be eliminated unless action is taken against these people. The Governor informed that members of the government staff also could be sympathisers of terrorists and hence this group will keep a keen eye on their activities too. The Union Home Ministry seems to have decided to form the TMG, against all this background. The information exposed by the NIA investigations also expedited the process of TMG formation.

It has been exposed that the separatist leaders Asiya Andrabi, Shabbir Shah have been receiving funding through the ‘Hawala’ channel. Shocking revelations have been made in the investigations carried out by the NIA, in this matter. Asiya Andrabi’s son is studying at a university in Malaysia. Andrabi accepted during interrogation, by the NIA, that his education is funded with this money coming through the illegal channels from foreign countries. Information raising suspicion has been revealed regarding Shabbir Shah’s Properties in Pahalgam.

Shabbir Shah was running Hotels, and some other businesses in Srinagar and Anantnag and the funding for these businesses were coming from Pakistan. Seven separatist leaders are under the scanner, and some of these leaders had paid the people involved in the stone-pelting on the security forces. The ‘Poster Boy’ of the stone throwers, Masarat Alam, also accepted that he was receiving funds from Pakistan, through the Hawala channel and also accepted that separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Gilani was behind this.

Even in the past, it had been exposed that the separatist leaders in Jammu-Kashmir were thriving on the funds coming in from Pakistan. Although these separatist leaders are inciting the local Kashmiri youth, to take up arms, to fight the said war of independent Kashmir, their children are studying abroad and pursuing their careers. The double standards of these separatist leaders have been exposed, even in the past. Therefore, it is being observed that these Kashmiri separatist leaders are slowly losing their influence, on the Kashmiri youth.
