Union Cabinet approves MoU’s with Israel and Britain  

New Delhi: The union cabinet of ministers approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Israel in health and medicine sectors. The cabinet also approved the MoU signed with the United Kingdom for cooperation in the telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sectors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the meeting of the union cabinet held on Wednesday. The MoU signed with Israel regarding the health and medicine manufacturing sector was approved by the union cabinet in this meeting. The MoU envisages training of doctors and other medical professionals, human resource development and cooperation for the establishment of medical facilities. Moreover, collaboration with Israel in medicines and medical equipment development and manufacturing will be made more comprehensive.   

During the meeting, MoU between the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) and the United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (UK MHRA) was also approved. This agreement between DCSCO and UK MHRA will facilitate the development of international standard medicine manufacturing sector. Exchange of information and cooperation regarding excellent laboratories, clinical services, manufacturing services and regulatory services regarding medications will become possible with this MoU in place.  

At the same time, confidence is being expressed that the telecommunications and information technology agreement will strengthen the bilateral ties between India and the United Kingdom in this sector. Indian communication ministry and the department of digital, culture, media and sports of the United Kingdom signed this agreement. The agreement envisages spectrum management, telecommunications and ICT technology standardisation and standardisation of testing.
