ULFA’s anti-India activity centre in China, information in the Union Home Ministry affidavit

New Delhi: – The rebel organisation, United Liberation Front of Assam – Independent (ULFA-I), has moved its base from Myanmar to China. The rebel group ULFA-I is carrying out its anti-India activities from the same base. Repeated claims had been made that Paresh Barua, the chief of ULFA-I, was carrying out all the anti-India activities sitting in Ruilu in the Chinese Province of Yunnan. Now, it has been revealed that ULFA-I has set up its base in China. This information has been revealed in the affidavit submitted by the Union Home Ministry to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal.

ULFA-I was severely jolted in the actions taken by the Myanmar military against all the anti-India rebel organisations operating from the Myanmar border regions. Myanmar military initiated fierce attacks on the bases of these terrorist organisations in the border areas from 2019. The base of ULFA-I suffered huge losses in the attack. Myanmar military had gained control on most of the essential ULFA-I bases in this area. Some of the terrorists from ULFA-I were killed in the attacks. Also, some were handed over by Myanmar to India. Investigations reveal that ULFA-I, restless with these developments, moved its base to China.  

The Union Home Ministry submitted an independent affidavit on this subject to the tribunal. This information was revealed in this affidavit. Paresh Barua, the chief of ULFA-I, is hiding in China for many years now and has kept spewing venom against India through audiotapes from there. He is in touch with the ULFA-I terrorists operational in the north-eastern Indian states. The Home Ministry affidavit clarified that ULFA-I has also set up a base in China.
