Turkey deploys troops and a warship to Qatar

London: – The Turkish military deployment in Qatar becomes one of the reasons for instability in the Middle East region. Anwar Gargash, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said that this Turkish military deployment increases the negativity in the area. Only last week, Turkish President Recep Erdogan visited Qatar. During the visit, Erdogan indicated increasing military deployment in Qatar. This UAE reaction seems to be against that background.

Last week, Turkish President Recep Erdogan visited Qatar and Kuwait, the countries in the Middle East region. During his visit to Qatar, Erdogan discussed the Turkish military deployment with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar. Erdogan reacted during an interview with a Qatari news agency that this Turkish military deployment was necessary for the stability in the Middle East region. Five thousand Turkish soldiers have been stationed at the military base in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Moreover, Turkey will be supplying a warship to Qatar. UAE has objected to Erdogan’s visit to Qatar.

UAE Foreign Minister Gargash criticised by saying, ‘The Turkish military deployment in the Arab countries increases instability and the threats, and has caused polarisation of the Arab countries. While deploying the military in Arab countries, Turkey has not considered the sovereignty of the countries in the region and has not thought about the interests of the local population.’ At the same time, the UAE Foreign Minister also alleged that the Turkish deployment increases the instability in the Middle East countries.
