US President Trump to visit India on February 24

New Delhi/Washington: US President Trump is coming to visit India on February 24. The White House announced that President Trump will be visiting India on 24-25 February. White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham said that the strategic cooperation between India and the United States will strengthen with this visit. India has decided to purchase 24 US-made helicopters for the Indian navy, against the background of the visit. Whereas, the United States also has tried to create a conducive atmosphere by announcing its decision to supply an air defence system to India.

US President Trump to come on India visit on February 24Earlier, President Trump’s visit to India was cancelled twice. However, President Trump has consistently clarified that India has a special place in the US foreign policy. US leaders and military officials also have been claiming that the cooperation with India is vital for the United States. Against this background, it is being exposed that the visit of the US President is of great military and strategic value. This is President Trump’s second visit abroad, this year, and before this, he had attended the World Economic Forum held in Davos.

White House announced that President Trump will be visiting New Delhi and Gujarat. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Indian union cabinet will be taking some decision in view of this visit by the US President. According to this, the Indian navy will be purchasing MH60R Sea Hawk helicopters from the United States. These 24 helicopters will be purchased from the Lockheed Martin company in the United States, for $2.6 billion. The defence cooperation between India and the United States has been increasing since 2007 and now this cooperation has crossed $17 billion. There are indications that this cooperation will only increase in the future.

India is expediting the process of modernising its defence forces in view of the Chinese challenge. The United States is keen on assisting India in this project and the Indian defence market is signalling the United States. Against this background, the United States took an important decision. As per this, the United States will be supplying the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IDWS) to India. It is said that the deal will be worth $1,867 billion. At the same time, it is expected that a trade agreement will be signed between India and the United States during the visit of the US President. But both the countries have not revealed any details regarding this matter.
