Paris/London :The suspect, after the terror attack on Berlin, made an escape through two or three countries thus making a mockery of the border security system under Schengen Agreement. This is how the aggressive French leader Marine Le Pen criticized in a blunt manner. The British political leader Nigel Farage seconded Pen’s stand. Farage demanded that the Schengen Area has become a security risk for the citizens and must be scrapped. After the terrorist attack on France last year, some restrictions were brought about in the free internal movement in the Schengen area.
It is obvious that Anis Armi , who was killed in Milan, Italy, on Friday morning, had travelled in a highspeed train from France to Turin in Italy. As yet no information is available to his mode of travel from Germany to France. A question mark is raised that, how could Armi travel through three countries inspite of his photograph being published as a suspect, and also not carrying the relevant documents. On this very basis, the criticism of the French and the British leaders seem striking.
Le Pen, the leader of the Front National Party of France indicated that ‘Schengen‘ agreement should be scrapped entirely, as France is capable of keeping its internal security as well as borders secure and also put an end to the undesirable consequences arising from ‘Schengen‘. British leader Farage strongly supported this demand and warned that ‘Schengen‘ be terminated. It has also been noticed that a few members of the European Parliament have likewise criticized Schengen.
