More than 100 civilians have been killed in a bloody Taliban massacre in Afghanistan’s Spin Buldak. It is claimed that some of the bodies are still lying on the streets of Spin Buldak. Mirwaiz Stanikzai, a spokesman of Afghanistan’s interior ministry, blamed Pakistan for the Taliban’s brutality in Spin Buldak. The Taliban is killing innocent Afghans at the behest of Pakistan’s leadership in Punjab. This has exposed the true face of the enemy,’ Stanikzai alleged. The Taliban also beheaded Afghans working as interpreters for the US military. Hence, these incidents gave the impression that the Taliban’s terror had increased and the Afghan government had become weaker. The United States took this seriously.

US warplanes have carried out heavy airstrikes in Kandahar and Helmand provinces. It is claimed that the Taliban suffered heavy casualties. ‘The United States has launched airstrikes in support of the Afghan army and will continue to do so,’ said John Kirby, a spokesman for the Pentagon. However, Kirby told the media that he would not detail which planes and military bases were used for the operation and whose airspace was used by the US planes.

The Taliban said the airstrikes violated an agreement reached in Qatar last year, and the United States should be prepared for the consequences. In a statement, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that the Taliban will not take a defensive stand if the enemy wages war. This raises the possibility of more Taliban attacks in Afghanistan shortly.

The Afghan army has also said that it has intensified its operations against the Taliban. The Afghan Defence Ministry claims to have killed nearly a thousand Taliban militants in the past four days.
