Taliban claims to have destroyed IS base in Kabul

Kabul – The Taliban claims to have acted against IS, responsible for carrying out a bomb attack on Sunday near a mosque in Kabul. The Taliban claimed to have destroyed IS base in Kabul, killing three IS militants and detaining 11 militants.

On Sunday evening, Mujahid reported that the Taliban’s special unit had successfully conducted an operation to destroy an IS base in Kabul. The Taliban did not disclose any further information about the captured IS militants.

But local media reported heavy gunfire in Kabul’s 17th District area. Photographs of fires erupting in some places were published. Thus, a possible fierce conflict would have erupted in the clash between Taliban and IS militants.

The bombing on Sunday is the biggest in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control. Earlier, IS-Khorasan had claimed responsibility for the attack on Kabul airport on August 26th. IS-Khorasan dominates the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar. In Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, Khorasan militants had targeted vehicles of Taliban militants.
