India takes clear stand on China’s claims, says South China Sea is part of global commons

New Delhi: India presented its stand regarding the South China Sea in clear words, the South China Sea does not belong to any single country. India firmly supports the freedom of marine and air freight movement in this region. A few hours ago, the United States declared that the Chinese claims regarding the South China Sea are illegal. After that, India has delivered a tight slap to China, saying that the South China Sea belongs to the whole world.

Srivastava reacted by stating that the sector does not belong to any single country, and the whole world has equal rights over this sector. Therefore, the peace and stability of the industry are of prime importance for India. Srivastava added that India fully supports the freedom of air and marine movement in this region. India also supports freedom of freight movement in this region within the framework of the guidelines prescribed by the United Nations. At the same time, India appealed that instead of using force and coercion to resolve the disputes in this region, they should be resolved through peaceful negotiations on the political level.

Pompeo had criticised that the Chinese claims regarding the South China Sea are illegal, and the Chinese expansionist policies have no place in the 21st century. No country in the world will tolerate the Chinese claim that the South China Sea is a part of its empire. Pompeo said that the United States is standing firm to safeguard the sovereign rights of the friend and partner countries in the South China Sea. The United States had also announced that the United States is willing to provide all possible assistance to the nations if they feel that China is intruding into their territory.

Since the last few days, opposition from the southeast Asian countries Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia to the unilateral Chinese claims regarding the South China Sea is increasing. Whereas, the United States has declared the Chinese demand as illegal. In this scenario, now India has cornered China further saying that no one country has rights over the South China Sea.
