Security strengthened in New Delhi for the Republic Day

New Delhi – After locating IED explosives at Ghazipur near New Delhi, a terrorist’s plot of sabotaging the Republic Day celebrations was exposed. Against this background, the security for the Republic Day celebrations has been strengthened. After receiving intel about a terror threat, the Delhi Police have been put on high alert.

Republic Day, New Delhi, explosives, IED, security agencies,In the wake of a recent drone attack by the Houthi rebels from Yemen on the airport in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital, the Indian security agencies are on high alert for such kind of threat. Therefore, the security has increased considering the possibility of drone attacks on such a big gathering to cause mayhem or disruptions. There will be a blanket ban on ariel vehicles such as drones, paragliders, and hot air balloons as per orders issued by Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner of Delhi Police, effective from 20th January till 15th February.

Criminals, anti-social elements, and terrorists can plan to carry out sabotage activities on Republic Day. Common civilians are also participating along with the VVIPs in the Republic Day parade held on the Rajpath. This makes it mandatory to increase security in this area. The threat posed by terrorists and anti-national elements for a crowd gathering has always persisted.

Against this background, only 4,000 tickets have been issued for ordinary civilians’ Republic Day parade function. Admission will be allowed for fully vaccinated citizens. Children will be not allowed to enter the premises. As per information received, the main leaders from the central Asian countries will not be physically present for the function, given the Coronavirus pandemic, but they attend through a virtual platform.
