Saudi launches airstrikes in Yemen following drone attacks by Houthi rebel

Riyadh/Sana: The Houthi rebels who carried out attacks with ballistic missiles, rockets and drones had to face airstrikes from Saudi on Sunday night. At the same time, Saudi has accused that the Houthi rebels have crossed the limit by attacking civilians in Saudi. Paying no heed to the accusation, the Houthi rebels said they had attacked the ARAMCO fuel project. Against this conflict’s background, the United States has issued an advisory for its citizens in Saudi. But it is evident from the developments in the last few weeks that the United States is not paying too much attention to the security of Saudi.

Since Sunday night, Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies have started targeting the locations of the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The news channel controlled by the Houthi rebels said that seven locations near Sana, the capital of Yemen, were attacked. It is claimed that the Houthi locations at Attan and Al-Nahda were among them. The details of the Houthi rebels’ losses in the attacks, carried out by Saudi and its Arab allies. Colonel Turkey Al-Maliki, the joint military front spokesman, criticised that the Hothi rebels crossed the limits by attacking Saudi citizens and crowded locations.

Before the airstrikes, Houthi rebels had carried out drone attacks in Saudi. Saudi claimed to have neutralised 10 drones successfully. It is being said that some of these drones were launched in the direction of Jeddah as well as Khamis Mushait cities near the Red Sea. This is the second drone attack carried out by the Houthi rebels, on the concerned cities, in the last two days. Even after the airstrikes launched by Saudi and its Arab allies, the Houthi rebels announced 14 drone and 8 ballistic missile attacks in Saudi.

Houthis informed that these included the attack on the ARAMCO fuel project in the port town of Ras Tanura, in far eastern Saudi. At the same time, Houthis said that they also targeted Dammam, Asir and Jazan cities. Saudi revealed the information regarding the Ras Tanura attack. Saudi said that the damage caused by the attack is not big.

The US embassy has issued an advisory for its citizens after the conflict flared up between Saudi and the Houthi rebels. The US citizens have been advised not to leave their houses, for no reason. Simultaneously, the US embassy in Saudi said that the Houthi attacks on the citizens and infrastructural facilities show disrespect to human Life and efforts for peace. At the same time, the US embassy said that the Saudi government is committed to the security of the country. Meanwhile, the Houthi rebels are targeting Saudi locations since the last two weeks. Saudi had drawn the attention of the United States and the international community towards these attacks, carried out by the Houthi rebels, threatening Saudi security. But the United States has not paid much attention to the Saudi appeal.
