Sashastra Seema Bal building new post on the India-Bhutan border to stop ChinaIn 2017, the Indian soldiers had stopped the Chinese soldiers trying to intrude into the Bhutan border region. The Indian soldiers foiled the attempt of the Chinese army to invade into Bhutan and carry out constructions. A strong possibility of a conflict between the two countries had been created. There had been a standoff for 70 days between the Indian and Chinese soldiers. Finally, China withdrew from the region and tension was diffused.

But now, with high tension reigning on the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh, China has reportedly started military movements in the Doklam region. India and Bhutan have a defence agreement in place, and as per the agreement, India has taken complete responsibility for Bhutanese security. Therefore, India keeping a close eye on the Chinese movements, has taken the necessary precaution.

Accordingly, 22 new posts have been added by the SSB on this border. SSB has set the target of having 734 posts in this region, nearly 12,000 feet above sea level. Out of these, work on 722 posts has been completed, and only 12 are still being built. It is said that these also will be completed soon. The SSB officials informed that the 22 posts that were built were completed in record time. The temperatures here too, slip below 0-degree Celsius, in winter, just like Ladakh. The SSB officials pointed out that despite adverse weather conditions, the work was completed in record time.

Taking cognisance of the heightened tension on the LAC in Ladakh, the SSB has increased its preparedness on the border. The SSB officials informed that not a single soldier from here had been deputed to maintain law and order or any other service. A possibility of China attempting intrusion in the Doklam region to increase pressure on India was being predicted. Chinese military increased the suspicion by increasing military movements in the Doklam region. But the newly built SSB posts show that India has made the preparations to retaliate against it.
