Sagar Kavach exercises completed in Paradip   

Bhubaneshwar: – The Sagar Kavach exercises, with participation from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and various departments from the states of Odisha and West Bengal, was completed on Friday. This type of exercise is being organised in both these states since the last few years because of coastal security.

After the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, various steps have been taken for the security of the marine borders in the coastal states. Against this background, Odisha and West Bengal government also have initiated multiple measures for coastline security. The tradition of joint exercises was started to increase the coordination between various departments connected with coastal security. Therefore, this annual exercise was organised. The practice organised this year was named Sagar Kavach.

The exercise was held in the Paradip Port. Along with the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, West Bengal and Odisha police, local fishermen, forest department and port and marine department, more than ten departments that are connected with coastal security participated in the joint exercise. Stopping intrusion and attacks was practised during the exercise.
