Moscow – Russia’s possibility of a new invasion of Ukraine has escalated. Besides, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the expansion of the Russian Defence Forces. Accordingly, the soldier strength in the Russian Defence Forces will be increased to 15 lakhs. 
Currently, the soldier strength in the Russian Defence Forces counts ten lakhs. Moreover, the expansion will be completed by the year 2026, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu informed. At the same time, Shoigu announced that two new military districts would be set up near the boundary of Finland, and an independent ‘Army Corps’ would also be established.
Claims have surfaced in the past few days that Russia has made moves to launch a ‘Spring Offensive’ against Ukraine. Ukraine and Western media have been stating that the decisions of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the last few days have been leading Russia towards a ‘War Economy’. In addition, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov had warned that behind this may be a plan to continue the Ukraine conflict for a long.
Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered expanding arms production alongside new military recruits. Later, a few days ago, there was an announcement of handing over the responsibility of the military campaign in Ukraine to the Chief of Defence Forces of the country. Subsequently, the decision to increase the number of personnel in the defence forces becomes noteworthy.
In the past few days, the Russian regime has repeatedly stated that the conflict in Ukraine was not against the Ukrainian government or forces but against NATO. At the same time, there were warnings of Russia further increasing the scope of its attacks in the near future which may include tactical nuclear weapons.
Against this backdrop, the United States and the Netherlands have announced providing Patriot missile systems to Ukraine. Besides, Ukraine and the Western alliance have also started activities against the background of the new preparations made by Russia. Moreover, a high-level delegation from the United States visited Ukraine recently.
