Moscow/London – “The United Kingdom will supply tanks to Ukraine. Along with tanks, depleted uranium shells will also be provided. If this happens, Russia will be forced to react,” President Vladimir Putin warned. The Russian President also said it is shocking that Western countries have started using nuclear weapons.
The UK is the leading arms supplier to Ukraine, after the United States. A few days ago, the UK announced it would supply advanced Challenger tanks to Ukraine. While giving more information in this regard, UK Defence Secretary Annabel Goldie announced providing shells using depleted uranium along with tanks. The UK’s announcement has caused a stir in international circles, including Europe.
A strong reaction has emerged from Russia, and President Putin has thereby issued a warning. Volodin, the Speaker of the Russian Parliament, warned that the UK’s plan would be dangerous not only for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe. A war fought till the last Ukrainian citizen will turn into a battle till the last European citizen, the speaker of the Russian parliament has warned. Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov alleged that the announcement by the UK was a new provocation.
The United Kingdom has rebuked Russia’s warnings and accusations and has revealed that artillery shells using depleted uranium have been used in the past. Experts have claimed that depleted uranium artillery shells are more dangerous and effective.
