Russia considers discluding Taliban from terror list

Moscow/Kabul – Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the Taliban, which has established a regime in Afghanistan, could be removed from the terror list. The Russian President has said that Russia is considering this and that efforts should be made at the UN level. Russia’s stand appears to have changed after a meeting with the Taliban in Moscow last week. The Taliban has welcomed this.

President Putin said that Russia is considering removing the Taliban from its list of terrorist organisations. The Russian President said that it is necessary to negotiate with the Taliban for the Afghan people. However, President Putin has taken a cautious stance and has warned that Russia will not rush into recognising the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. The Russian President expects that the Taliban will establish an inclusive government in Afghanistan and take action against terrorist organisations in the country.

The Russian President said that the growing influence of IS and other terrorist groups in northern Afghanistan and drug trafficking are major challenges that the Taliban must address. Meanwhile, Russia claims that the activities of the terrorist organisations in Afghanistan affect the security of Tajikistan and Central Asian countries. For this, Russia has deployed 30 advanced tanks at its base in Tajikistan.

Chinese Foreign Minister to meet Taliban leaders in Qatar

Beijing: – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is visiting Qatar on Monday and Tuesday; he will be meeting the Taliban leaders during this visit. The Chinese mouthpiece informed that the developments in Afghanistan would be discussed during the meeting.

The Taliban wants huge investment from China in Afghanistan. At the same time, China has its eye on Afghanistan’s multibillion-dollar mineral wealth. Against this backdrop, the meeting between China and the Taliban has caught the eye of major countries globally. China also claims that the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) in Afghanistan threatens its security. China has consistently called on the Taliban to take action against the militant group.
