Russia launches fierce attacks in Syria’s Idlib

Beirut: Russian fighter jets launched airstrikes on the terrorist hideouts in the Idlib Province of Syria. Russia revealed the information regarding the airstrikes. Since the last few days, Russia is carrying out attacks on the terrorist locations in Syria. It has been reported that the terrorists carried out a minimum of 15 attacks, following the Russian action.

Russia launches fierce attacks in Idlib in SyriaA video of the airstrike carried out by the Russian Su-24 bombers in the northeastern province of Idlib has been posted on the Russian social media. The video says that Russian bombers launched an attack, on a hidden tunnel of the terrorist organisation Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) last week. However, it is not clear on which date the Russian aircraft carried out the mission.

HTS terrorists were launching attacks on the territory under the control of the Assad government. Despite warnings, Turkey did not stop these terrorists from carrying out attacks. The Russian media claimed that this was the reason Russia carried out attacks on the Turkey-affiliated organisation. It is said that terrorists have been slain in this attack at large.

As per the Russian Defence Ministry, there were 28 instances of ceasefire violation at different Syrian locations. Out of these, 15 ceasefire violations were in Idlib, five in Aleppo and four each in Hama and Latakia provinces. Russia is accusing the Turkey affiliated terrorist groups of violating ceasefire with the Syrian military. Whereas, Turkey has accused the Assad government of violating the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Russia, which is intensifying action against the IS and Turkey-affiliated terrorist organisations has also undertaken a different mission. Russia is assisting Israel to take the bodies of 2 Israeli soldiers who had gone missing in Syria, during the 1982 Lebanon war to their homeland.
