Russian President Putin appeals to Israel to avoid actions that could spark conflict in Syria

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ‘Stop activities which will deteriorate the situation further to start a conflict in Syria’. The Israeli Prime Minister had a telephonic discussion with the Russian President on Saturday, after Israel mounted airstrikes in Syria. ‘However, there will be no option but to attack, if the security of Israel is under threat,’ Prime Minister Netanyahu said at this time.

Until now, Israel had targeted the Hezbollah arsenal and Iranian military bases in their attacks. But, Israel is taking special precautions not to cause any loss to the Russian military deployed in Syria.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, recently visited Russia and had appealed to make efforts to stop Iranian activities in Syria. But, Russia, supporting the Assad Regime with a military intervention, did not give an expected response to the appeal. The Israeli analysts are warning that Israel should take necessary precautions carrying out attacks in Syria.

As of now, the Syrian army, the Hezbollah terrorists and an Iranian army contingent are active against the Syrian rebels. Israeli analysts are drawing their attention to the fact that the situation in Syria has become complicated. As per the Israeli analysts, Russia will take a more pro-Iranian stance if Israel does not adopt a restrained approach to the Syrian air attacks.
