Pressure mounts on Biden administration for refusing necessary vaccine

Washington: While there is an alarming increase in the Coronavirus pandemic, the United States refused to supply the necessary raw materials for the Corona vaccine. Indications are that the Biden administration is trying to corner India by adopting this policy to create blockades. On the one hand, the Biden administration claims to strengthen cooperation with India on all fronts, while on the other hand, it carries out such actions against India. A strong reaction has emanated from within the United States and the US industrial sector. Even lawmakers have started demanding that the Biden administration provide all the necessary cooperation to India to stop the Coronavirus pandemic.

India is taking steps to stop the coronavirus pandemic by opening up vaccination to everyone above 18. The vaccination campaign is being expedited for this purpose. The raw material necessary for the Corona vaccine is sourced from the United States. The United States decided to stop the supply, blocking India. The Biden administration has cited the internal demand for halting the exports of the raw materials. This is affecting the manufacture of the vaccine and, in turn, the vaccination campaign in India. This can adversely hit India. The US industry sector has realised this, and it is trying to convince the Biden administration.

Myron Brilliant, Executive Vice President & Head of International Affairs at US Chamber of Commerce, reprimanded the Biden administration. Brilliant demanded that the Biden administration decide to immediately provide the necessary assistance to India and Brazil, as the coronavirus pandemic is attaining dangerous proportions. A few days ago, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also had made the same demand with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a discussion. But the United States ignored the demand saying that it was aware of the situation in India. Therefore, the suspicion that the Biden administration is knowingly blocking India is becoming stronger. The suspicion becomes stronger with Brilliant’s statement that there is no apparent reason to stop this necessary supply to India.

Certain US lawmakers also are demanding that India should be supplied the raw material required for the corona vaccine. Whereas the Non-Resident Indians also are appealing to the Biden administration for this purpose. Indications that the pressure is increasing on the Biden administration are being received. But the Biden administration has still not changed the decision.

US President Boden and his administration has consistently said that Indian is looked at as an essential strategic partner. President Biden repeatedly claims that the Indian role in the Indo-Pacific is vital. But Biden is consistently taking a decision that could result in developing cracks in the Indo-US relations. Biden had included India in the list of Currency manipulator countries. Simultaneously, the Biden administration had incited India by holding US naval exercises in the special Indian marine region. Biden has stopped the supply of raw material for the Corona vaccine when the Coronavirus pandemic is rampaging in India. Therefore, whatever claims Biden makes about India-US friendship, the suspicion that he will take all his decisions favouring China is becoming stronger.

But Biden is aware that he cannot openly go against the strategic cooperation between India and the United States. Biden is aware that reactions will be received even from the defence forces, statesmen, and political circles if that happens. Therefore, the Biden administration is trying various other tactics to block India.
