US President Biden defends horrific decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan

Washington: – President Joe Biden’s irresponsibility is being criticised worldwide for causing a crisis in Afghanistan, with a sudden US military withdrawal. But President Biden backed himself, saying his decision was the right one. Biden questioned, ‘If Afghan leaders and the military are not ready to fight the Taliban, why should the US fight for Afghanistan?’ Biden presented a defence that former President Donald Trump took the decision of military withdrawal. Former US diplomatic and military officials denounced the decision saying, ‘Biden is making dismal efforts to save his skin. The path adopted by Biden in Afghanistan is extremely dangerous and an insult to the United States.’

‘The Taliban took control of Afghanistan faster than expected. But the Afghan army and its leaders, far more in numbers than the Taliban, refused to fight. Afghan leaders got down on their knees and fled the country. In such a scenario, the expectation that the US will fight for Afghanistan is unrealistic. I stand by the decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan,’ Biden said. Senator Lindsey Graham criticised that his remarks are irresponsible. ‘The situation in Afghanistan is the culmination of Biden’s absurd policies, he is responsible for it, and now he is trying to blame others,’ Graham said.

Graham pointed to the severe consequences of the decision taken by President Biden in vitriolic language, ‘Insisting on his wrong decision, Biden paved the way for the massacre of thousands of Afghans who were supporting the United States. Biden has also made preparations for re-emergence of Al Qaeda, which pose a threat to the United States, along with the Taliban.’ Former US military officials who fought the Taliban in Afghanistan say that Taliban militants are compiling a list of Afghans who supported the United States. Biden has left these Afghan friends of the United States in a lurch. They have no choice but to face inhuman massacres. I will never forgive my country for this mistake,’ was the frustrated reaction given by Matt Zeller, a former CIA analyst. Biden’s claim that the Taliban had taken control of Kabul earlier than expected was refuted entirely by Matt Zeller.

Zeller castigated the Biden administration, ‘I warned the Biden administration that the Taliban would strike in Kabul in a few days. I had also proposed to the administration for safe extraction of the Afghan people, supporting the United States. But despite repeated requests, the Biden administration did not pay any heed.’ Zeller expressed his regret saying, ‘Biden administration is campaigning that it is fighting for human rights. But the Biden administration has delivered a message to the world that the United States cannot be trusted by failing to make an effort to save the Afghan people supporting the United States.’
