Pakistan will not commit another mistake of giving military bases to the US: Pak PM Imran Khan

Islamabad – Pak PM Imran Khan claimed that Pakistan made a huge mistake by participating in the US ‘War on Terror’ campaign in Afghanistan and had to pay the price. But now, Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty and commit another mistake of giving its military base to the United States for action in Afghanistan, Khan asserted. This speech by PM Khan in the Pakistan parliament is sensational. Some Pakistani experts have started praising Imran Khan for this speech. However, the national press has raised the question that the US reaction to this speech is inevitable, so whether the government is prepared or not.

The United States is exerting pressure on Pakistan so that it breaks its ties with China. But, Pakistan will not do that, PM Khan announced. Following that, while speaking at the Pak parliament, Khan said that the United States is not a Pak ally. He further added that Pakistan participated in the US campaign in Afghanistan against terror for no reason. Also, he expressed his discontentment over the US intrusion in Pakistan to kill the Al-Qaeda chief, Osama bin Laden.

Furthermore, PM Khan mentioned UK-based Pakistan leader Altaf Hussain as a terrorist in his parliamentary speech. He then questioned the UK whether it would permit Pakistan to carry a drone attack and kill Hussain. Besides, he reminded that he was one of the leaders against Pak participating in the US campaign in Afghanistan. But, at the time, he was ridiculed as ‘Taliban Khan’. So, just as the former government, Pakistan will not repeat the mistake of giving in to the US pressure. Hence, PM Khan declared that he would not give any military base to the United States. The extremist analysts and journalists in Pakistan upheld this parliament speech by Khan. They say that for the first time, a Pak leader has responded with such confidence.

The former officials of the Pak army backed this decision of the Pak PM. However, they have cautioned that the US response to this decision is inevitable. In future, the United States would completely block financial aid to Pakistan. The former official said it would use its influence in FATF and other organisations to bring Pakistan to its knees. In such a situation, Pakistan should increase its cooperation with China, Russia and Iran to counter the US pressure, advised the officials.

The Pakistan PM has prepared for this; the exceptional praise of China by Khan over the last few days proves it. At the same time, Pakistan believes that Russia would certainly help it against the United States. However, a few reasonable journalists in Pakistan know that it is difficult to toss away the pressure of superpower United States. Pakistan will have to face grave consequences for this. Moreover, it does not have the economic and political capacity to counter it, the journalists emphasised.
