Pakistan does not guarantee peace in Afghanistan; Pak Army official claims

Islamabad: ‘Pakistan initiated the Afghan peace process. But, It is still a facilitator of this peace process, not guarantors,’ by declaring this, Pakistan has revealed its true colours. Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar has issued this warning. Before this warning by Maj. Gen. Iftikhar, US State Secretary Antony Blinken had held talks with his Pak counterpart Qureshi via telephone. This telephone conversation included the issue of Afghanistan and Secretary Blinken sternly warned Pakistan at the time. Following that, within few hours of it, Pakistan refused to guarantee the peace process in Afghanistan. So, this draws attention.

Taliban is leading in the conflict with Afghanistan. Moreover, the militant outfit claims of having captured 85% land area in Afghanistan. Besides, over the last several years, Pakistan had been awaiting the moment the Taliban gains control of Afghanistan. But, the onus of bloodshed by the Taliban is directly on Pakistan. For, Afghanistan has accused that the Taliban will not survive in the war without Pakistan’s support. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had sternly warned Pakistan against cooperation with the Taliban. Moreover, as per the claims, Afghan President Ghani and Vice President Saleh visited the United States and gave them all information about the Pak action.

The United States had demanded a military base in Pakistan to monitor the movements of the Taliban in Afghanistan. But, Pakistan PM firmly refused. Thus, even though the Pak PM courageously refused the military base to the United States, his country is bound to face its repercussions, the Pak experts and journalists expressed concerns. It seems that the US State Secretary, Blinken, telephoned Pak and reiterated its significance.

In this discussion, US State Secretary Blinken has warned Pakistan to quit assisting the Taliban with the violence in Afghanistan. However, the statement by Pak DGISPR, Major General Babar Iftikhar, after this warning by Blinken, draws significant attention. Even though Pakistan initiated the peace process in Afghanistan, it does not guarantee to facilitate it, General Iftikhar said.

Globally recognised analysts claim that Pakistan would never let peace establish in Afghanistan. The country worries that Pakistan would face instability if Afghanistan becomes stable. Thus, Pakistan, with the help of the Taliban, wants to outspread anarchy in Afghanistan. As a result, Pakistan is not ready to guarantee peace in Afghanistan. Hence, by shirking its responsibility, Pakistan has declared that it has no part in the havoc that may take place in Afghanistan.
