Rehman has started heavily criticising the Pakistani military, along with Prime Minister Imran Khan. Rehman told the press, ‘Pakistan military will not last for even 24 hours in front of an Indian attack. The Pakistani economy is in ruins. In this situation, Pakistan needs a responsible leader.’

Rehman also rubbished the claim of the Pakistan government and media that a proposal has been received from India for talks. Pakistan is pleading with India to initiate discussions. Rehman criticised that the Pakistani population is being given misleading information that the proposal has come from India. Major repercussions of his statements are being felt in Pakistan. Before making these claims, General Qamar Jawed Bajwa, the Chief of the Pakistan military, had an unofficial dialogue with the journalists. At that time, General Bajwa had clarified that he believed that friendship and trade should be established between India and Pakistan.

General Bajwa was trying to deliver the message that the Pakistan military is no more opposed to building relations with India. But he has exhibited caution not to make any official claims regarding this. Taking that reference, Rehman pointed to the military’s capability and the current situation in the country. Rehman is blaming that the Pakistan military, who brought the Imran Khan government to power, is as responsible for the situation in Pakistan as the Imran Khan government.

Pakistan media have started a spate of criticism against Rehman. Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhari criticised that Rehman has made irresponsible statements on the issue of national security. But the repercussions of the comments are being felt in Pakistan, and the frustrated population is confessing that the country is in dire straits. Moreover, analysts and journalists frankly say that the Pakistan government does not dare to present the actual picture in front of the population.
