ISI behind Taliban’s success in Afghanistan, accuses US Congressman

Washington: – The militant groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed are celebrating the victory of the Taliban in Afghanistan by organising rallies and firing bullets in the air. A photograph of Faiz Hameed, the head of Pakistan’s infamous intelligence agency, ISI, with Taliban leader Mullah Baradar has become viral. In such a scenario, the allegation that Pakistan is behind the success of the Taliban in Afghanistan is becoming more and more intense. US Congressman, Steve Chabot, has taken serious cognisance of the issue and accused Pakistan’s ISI of being instrumental in the Taliban acquiring control of Afghanistan.

Pakistani officials are celebrating the success of the Taliban, which is showering atrocities on the Afghan population. This is an annoying thing, said Congressman Chabot. However, pointing out that trampling of human rights is not important for Pakistan, Chabot pointed to the tarnished history of Pakistan regarding human rights. American citizens do not know enough about the persecution of religious minorities in Pakistan. To this day, it has not received as much attention as it should have. But now is the time to make Americans aware on this front, said Steve Chabot, signalling that he will take the initiative.

Girls from the Hindu minority in Pakistan are abducted and forcibly married off to the elderly from the majority. Saying that there are many examples of this, Chabot informed that human rights organisations had noted this. However, Chabot expressed regret that the issue was ignored. The United States is home to about six million Hindus and is an integral part of Hindu US society. The Hindu community has made a significant contribution to the development of the United States. Chabot warned that, therefore, it would be inappropriate for the US to ignore the atrocities being perpetrated against Hindus in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, while blaming Pakistan for the violence in Afghanistan and the Taliban‘s atrocities, Congressman Chabot praised India. ‘India has done a great job in sheltering religious minorities from Afghanistan.’ Even before this, some US Congressmen and former diplomats have blamed Pakistan for the US failure in Afghanistan. Representatives of the people and former diplomats have also said that it is necessary that Pakistan is made to pay the price. On the other hand, Pakistani media express concerns that the US is preparing to impose strict sanctions on Pakistan.

Former Pakistani diplomats, military officials and the Pakistani media have expressed fears that the US will not stop short of blaming Pakistan for its defeat in Afghanistan. A political activist of Pakistani descent from the United States has warned that some irresponsible groups in Pakistan have added fuel to US anger by celebrating the Taliban’s success. Veteran Pakistani journalists also lament that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has put his country in trouble by uttering slogans glorifying the Taliban.
