Former Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, has returned to Pakistan politics after a gap of nearly one year. Sharif has opened a major front of opposition parties against the Imran Khan government and the military. The main constituents of the front are the Pakistan Muslim League of Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party of Former President Asif Ali Zardari and Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam of Moulana Fazloor-Rehman. These political parties have formed an alliance named ‘Pakistan Democratic Movement.’ In the meantime, Sharif fired salvos on the deteriorating Pakistan economy, corruption by the military top brass, spoiling relations with other countries, oppression of the media and incompetence of the Imran Khan government.

Sharif accused that Imran Khan’s government is not an elected government, but a government ‘Selected’ by the military. The former Prime Minister said that therefore the priority is removing this selected government and its systems. Imran Khan and the military have made Pakistan a laughing stock for the world, and if this situation is not changed soon, the country will suffer immeasurable losses. Sharif accused that there is martial law in the nation. Sharif also warned that the Pakistan military should remain in the framework of the constitution and should not interfere with the choices of the people.

Sharif attacked the Pakistan military systems without naming former Dictator Parvez Musharraf. The Pakistan courts have authorised the military dictators to toy with the constitution and have absolved people, twice, despite trampling the constitution. Whereas, those working within the framework of the constitution are languishing in prisons. At the same time, Sharif accused that Lieutenant General (Retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa is a corrupt man. The malpractices of General Bajwa in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor have been exposed in the Pakistan media and names of other serving and retired officials also have started surfacing. This has tarnished the image of the Pakistan military in the eyes of the Pakistani population. This has made Pakistan population restless, and the journalists are openly asking, ‘Do we tolerate the corrupt practices of the Pakistan military?’
