Outbursts in Pakistan over sentencing of Yasin MalikOn May 25, Pakistan’s leader of opposition Imran Khan had announced an ‘Azadi March’ in the capital Islamabad. Questions were being asked about whether there will be anarchy in Pakistan after that. The Pakistani government has somehow managed to bring the situation under control by arresting hundreds of Imran Khan’s associates. Even in such a situation, it is ridiculous that the Prime Minister of Pakistan criticises India’s democracy and judiciary over the punishment meted out to Yasin Malik.

Pakistan’s Army has also opposed the punishment meted out to Yasin Malik, claiming that the charges against him were false. The Pakistan Army also registered its protest by claiming that India cannot suppress the voice of the Kashmiri people through this. Pakistani media is also speaking out in support of Yasin Malik. Outbursts in Pakistan over sentencing of Yasin MalikWhereas Mushaal Mullick, wife of Yasin Malik, held a press conference even before the sentencing and made an inciting appeal to the whole of Pakistan to stand up against India. The ‘Azadi March’ organised by Imran Khan on May 25 should be cancelled and everyone should take to the streets for Kashmir. Mushaal Mullick had claimed that Kashmiris should not be sacrificed in Pakistan’s internal politics and India would take advantage of it.

Meanwhile, given Pakistan’s current state of affairs, no country is in a position to support Pakistan against India. Some countries or organisations like the OIC will give verbal relief to Pakistan. But beyond that, responsible analysts in this country say that Pakistan will not get a response from anyone.
