NSA strongly supports Agnipath scheme

New Delhi: ‘In order to join the military service, the attitude of surrendering to the country and physical and mental toughness is paramount. Those who do not have this attitude cannot serve in the army,’ said National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on the objections raised on the Agnipath scheme. Doval has given this advice to those sceptical about their career options after four years of service. At the same time, the National Security Advisor has expressed confidence that there will be immense career opportunities for the ‘Agniveers’ as the country’s economy leaps towards $5 trillion.

Doval strongly supported the scheme, saying there was no question of withdrawing it. India has among the youngest populations in the world. The average age of the military in such a country cannot be higher, Doval said. At present, the main objective of the Agnipath scheme is to bring the average age of military personnel from 32 to 26, said senior military officials. The NSA freshly pointed this out.

At the same time, the Agnipath scheme will provide tech-savvy youth to the defence forces. Ajit Doval believes that they will make the defence forces tech-savvy. ‘Nowadays, the war techniques are changing and we are faced with non-contact warfare. At the same time, we have to deal with invisible enemies. This is because technology is progressing tremendously,’ Doval pointed out.

‘If we want to be prepared to face the challenges of the times ahead, we have to start now. The Agnipath plan is part of this preparedness,’ the National Security Advisor asserted. Speaking about Jammu and Kashmir, Doval noted that the mindset of the Kashmiri people has completely changed after 2019. Doval claimed that the people here are no longer in favour of Pakistan and terrorism but against it.

‘India wants good relations with Pakistan along with all other neighbouring countries. But India is not ready to tolerate terrorism for that. India will not beg for peace with anyone under any circumstances. Your enemy cannot be allowed to choose between peace and war whenever he wants. If we want to safeguard our interests, we must decide on our terms, when and with whom we want to make peace,’ the NSA said.

Speaking on the India-China border dispute, Doval also warned that China would not be allowed to infiltrate Indian borders.
