Will not tolerate violence threatening the security of Hong Kong

Beijing/Hong Kong: Chen Dao Xiang, the chief of the Chinese military base in Hong Kong threatened that the eruption of discontent and violence, in the people of Hong Kong is threatening the security of the region and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. At the same time, he also warned that if this is going to jolt the sovereignty and stability of China, the Chinese military is ready to tackle the issue. Against the background of the statements of the military official, a video showing the military controlling the riots was published.

Since the last two months, there is an extensive protest, in Hong Kong, against the increasing Chinese interference along with the extradition bill. Since the last few days, the agitation has turned aggressive and violent, and even the Chinese representative’s office has been attacked. Despite a consistent action by the pro-Chinese administration and police, the outrage in the people of Hong Kong has not subsided, and the people have been consistently taking to the streets to protest.

The rising discontent in the people of Hong Kong is becoming a cause of concern for the Chinese rulers. Hong Kong being an international trade and economic centre, the Chinese image is getting maligned at the international level and countries like the United States and European countries have already castigated China over the issue. But saying that the agitation in Hong Kong is a conspiracy by the United States and western countries, China has been trying to suppress the agitation. As a part of these efforts, China has even threatened the use of military force to restrain it.

As per analysts, with the same threat being received twice in one week, the possibility of realisation of the threat has strengthened. In the last week, Wu Kian the spokesman of the Chinese defence ministry had threatened that the attack on the Chinese representative’s office, is a challenge to the Chinese government and military force could be used to dismantle the agitation.

Now the new threat has come from the chief of the military base in Hong Kong. Chen Dao Xiang, the chief of the Chinese military base in Hong Kong, warned that the threat to the security and life of local people had been created because of the agitation. The violent acts in the agitation will never be tolerated. At the same time, the Chinese military is ready to protect the Chinese sovereignty, security, prosperity and stability in Hong Kong.’ At the same time, he said that the action taken by the Hong Kong administration was appropriate and strongly justified the police action.

There is a big Chinese military base in Hong Kong with nearly 6,000 soldiers along with warships, fighter jets, tanks and armed vehicles. The Chinese military base released a video on Wednesday showing the Chinese soldiers controlling the riots. There are scenes of the military resorting to firing on the protestors as well as detaining them.
