The Taliban have taken control of almost all provinces of Afghanistan except Panjshir. But the Taliban have not been able to gain control of Panjshir, the smallest province in Afghanistan. Panjshir is headed by Ahmad Shah Massoud’s son Ahmad Massoud. Former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh is also in Panjshir, according to photographs and videos. Saleh and Massoud announced that they would fight against the Taliban from Panjshir.

Following this, news and videos of Afghan army convoys, as well as anti-Taliban groups, with tanks and military vehicles, began to gather in Panjshir. The Taliban militants had also marched towards Panjshir. Pakistani media has started saying that Saleh-Massoud’s Northern Alliance will not last long in the face of Taliban attacks.

The Pakistani media had also released reports that Massoud had started talks with the Taliban, through the mediation of Russia, seeing the strength of the Taliban. Ahmed Massoud said, ‘I have inherited the legacy of fighting against the Taliban from my father, and I will not give it up.’ This was followed by reports of clashes between Northern Alliance and Taliban militants in the Andarab area of Panjshir, near the border with Kapisa province.

300 Taliban militants are claimed to have been killed in the ongoing conflict. The video shows a bomb attack on a Taliban vehicle and the bodies of Taliban militants killed in the attack. No one has officially confirmed the information released on social media. Twenty years ago, despite the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, the Taliban could not take control of Panjshir. Therefore, everyone’s eyes are latched on to the situation in Panjshir.

Meanwhile, the situation at Kabul airport, where thousands of civilians are stranded, is claimed to have worsened. On Monday, an Afghan soldier was killed in a clash of the Afghan soldiers with US and German troops deployed for the security of the Kabul airport. This was reported by the German army. Security outside Kabul airport is in the hands of the Taliban. The airport is controlled by the US and Western militaries, and it is said that some Afghan troops are also stationed there.
