Mercenaries could be deployed in place of the US soldiers; Blackwater

Washington: Mixed reactions are being received since the announcement by President Trump to withdraw the military from Syria. But Eric Prince, the Chief of Blackwater has said that there is no need to keep the US soldiers in Syria and mercenaries could very well replace them.

‘Blackwater’ is a private military services agency in the US. Mercenaries of this agency had been earlier deployed on the field in Afghanistan and Iraq. Militant activities carried out by these Mercenaries were quite famous in both these countries. There has been continuous demand from US citizens to replace US Army men with these mercenaries to save their precious lives. Blackwater chief, Eric Prince’s statement is thus catching attention on this background.

His suggestion comes at a time when US President Donald Trump is looking to withdraw his country’s approximately 2000 troops from Syria. The United States doesn’t have a long-term strategic obligation to stay in Syria. But I also think it’s not a good idea to abandon our allies.”, He mentioned clearly. At the same time, he clearly said he could not risk his mercenary’s life who have been deployed by US Government. Mr. Eric reminded about the US taking help of mercenaries even earlier in Afghanistan.

Deploying US Army has been an expensive task for US government over some time. At this background, Mr. Prince has suggested that mercenaries’ option will be a beneficial one. Also, Prince further indicated that mercenaries could secretly take steps against militants’ threat from Iraq as well.

US President Trump’s decision to withdraw troops from Syria came as a surprise to its middle eastern counterparts. Russia had expressed its doubts over this decision whereas, Iran and Syria considered it to be their victory. However, with Mr. Prince’s statement now, it’s clear that the US can keep its relations strong with other nations without keeping its troops in Syria,through Blackwater mercenaries.
