Jordan will support ‘Middle East NATO’ – Jordanian King Abdullah -

Amman: King Abdullah of Jordan announced that an independent military organisation of the Middle East could form along the lines of NATO, created by the United States with the European nations. This organisation would work a proposition if the objectives are set and Jordan fully supports such an organisation.

Moreover, King Abdullah cited the Ukraine conflict during an interview with a US news channel. King Abdullah made a significant claim that the Middle East countries have realised that an independent military organisation of the Middle East countries is necessary in case a threat is posed to the security of any of them.

Earlier, Jordan has supported the NATO military campaigns. But the Jordanian King underlined the need for the Gulf countries to unite and form an independent military organisation along the lines of NATO. King Abdullah claimed that Jordan would be the first to support such an organisation.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Jordan last week. After that, the Jordanian King has made these statements regarding an organisation like NATO within hours of the Saudi Crown Prince’s visit.
