Israel to supply ‘SPYDER’ air defence system to UAE

Jerusalem: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will purchase an air defence system to protect against drone and missile attacks on fuel projects and important locations in Abu Dhabi and other cities. UAE will be equipped with the SPYDER air defence system of the Israeli defence manufacturer Rafael. The Israeli government has approved the concerning cooperation.

Israel to supply 'SPYDER' air defence system to UAEIsrael had presented the SPYDER air defence system to the Arab countries in the IDEX 2021 defence equipment exhibition held in Dubai last year. Discussions for the system’s purchase had started between the Israeli and UAE officials simultaneously. Whereas, negotiations for this purpose had been held in January. The Israeli company will be supplying the SPYDER air defence system for protection against the short, medium and long-range missiles to UAE. It is claimed that the SPYDER system will be effective against the missile and drone attacks launched by the Houthi rebels from Yemen.

Meanwhile, eight Globemaster airplanes of UAE had landed in Israel. After nearly an hour of rest, the planes returned to the homeland. Both the countries refrained from revealing any details regarding the visit.
