Washington: ‘Under the cover of the conflict in Yemen, Iran is trying to establish a new Hezbollah in this country. In case they succeed, the security of the Gulf countries will be compromised just like Saudi Arabia’s,’ warned ‘Prince Khaled Bin Salman’ the Saudi ambassador to the United States and younger brother of the ‘Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’. Prince Khaled also alleged that Iran is aiming for all-round destruction by creating instability in the Gulf.
Saudi ‘Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’ is scheduled to meet the United States’ President Donald Trump in the next few hours. Against this background, Saudi Ambassador Prince Khaled showered strong criticism on Iran while talking to a US news channel. Prince Khaled accused Iran of trying to destabilise Saudi with the help of the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The Saudi Ambassador claimed that Iran is trying to establish a new branch of Hezbollah in Yemen, by supplying arms to the Houthi rebels.
Prince Khaled expressed his concerns about the nuclear agreement between the western countries and Iran. The nuclear agreement with Iran is adding to the tension in the Gulf and the complications around the agreement should be resolved at the earliest, said Prince Khaled.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed is also expected to raise the issue of the Iran nuclear deal in the meeting with President Trump. Therefore, the international experts will be eyeing the developments in the Prince Mohammed meeting with President Trump. Prince Khaled reportedly met Henry Kissinger, the former Secretary of State and a senior Statesman, before this meeting.
Meanwhile, since the last three years, Saudi Arabia, its Arab allies and even the United States have been accusing Iran of supplying arms to the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Saudi had busted this smuggling of arms by ceasing an Iranian ship in Yemen waters. US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, had presented evidence to the international media of Iran’s arms supply to the Houthi rebels. There were accusations that the Chief of the Quds army in Iran, General Qassem Soleimani, was in contact with the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The Houthi rebels had displayed posters of Qassem Soleimani in Yemen’s capital. The evidences against Iran on this matter will soon be disclosed by the Arab Allies to the international community.
