Following the sanctions by the United States, which is causing pressure on the economy, the Iranian population has been using the facility of consuming fuel at subsidised rates on a large scale.

As the Iranian citizens lined up their cars for fuel on Tuesday, their digital cards were hacked. A message ‘Cyberattack 64411’ was displayed on the card machines. This phenomenon was seen in most of the gas stations, including the ones in Tehran. The big digital hoardings at the gas stations flashed messages like ‘Khamenei Where is the gas?’ and ‘Free gas in Jamaran gas station’.

The Iranian government sources informed that this was a cyberattack. After that, an emergency meeting of the concerned officials was called. As per the information given by Iran’s government news agency, it is claimed that the five-digit number displayed in the message is the hotline number of Iranian supreme religious leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

A month ago, a cyberattack was carried out on the Iranian railway lines. The concerned five-digit number had been displayed on the railway digital bords, even at that time. Iran had accused Israeli hackers of the cyberattack.
