Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have increased the deployment of military vehicles near the border with Iraq. At the same time, Iran’s senior military officials announced that ‘special units’ are also ready to enter Iraq and take action. After this, Iraq got alerted and sent its army to retaliate against Iran. This has increased the tension on the border between Iraq and Iran.

Iran disclosed to the United Nations that there was no other option but to attack Iraq for self-defence. At the same time, Iran, which has declared Kurdish groups in Iraq as terrorist organizations, has claimed that it has taken action against these terrorists within the framework of international norms.

Furthermore, Iran started additional deployments near the border with Iraq a few hours later. General Mohammad Pakpour, head of paramilitary forces in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, said armoured vehicles and special forces units had been deployed near the border with Iraq. This deployment was done to prevent the infiltration of terrorists in the territory of Iran. General Pakpur announced that if the need arises in the future, the Special Forces soldiers will directly enter Iraq and take action.

But Kurdish leaders and organizations in Iraq have claimed that they have nothing to do with the protests in Iran. Still, Iran is preparing to attack Kurdish positions in Iraq. This has created tension on the border of both countries and the possibility of Iraq-Iran war is being predicted. Before this, the first war broke out in Iraq-Iran between 1980-88. Nearly six lakh people were killed in this war. It included one lakh citizens.
