International criticism of the Chinese interference in Hong Kong

Third World WarLondon/Washington: In order to contain the ongoing protests in Hong Kong, the Chinese ruling regime has signalled possible intervention, which has drawn criticism from the international community. US economic analyst Jim Cramer expressed concern that the Chinese interference in the Hong Kong protest will be more serious than the trade war. The last British Governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patton, warned that the Chinese interference in Hong Kong would be a catastrophe.

The action taken by the pro-Chinese administration in Hong Kong has already been a target of international criticism. The United States and the United Kingdom have condemned China over the action wherein, the UK, going one step ahead, has even threatened to slap sanctions. However, the possible Chinese military interference becomes a new cause for concern, drawing reactions from the financial sector too.

The Chinese government is more worried about Hong Kong than they’re worried about trade. If you want to know what could tip you into a worldwide recession, it is just a shutdown of Hong Kong,” Economic analyst Jim Cramer pointed out the serious situation in Hong Kong. Cramer also warned that China could deploy military in Hong Kong, which would have global implications.

Chris Patton, who worked as the last British Governor of Hong Kong, at the time of handing over Hong Kong to China, warned that the Chinese interference would be a catastrophe. He added that Chinese President Xi Jinping should handle the situation more wisely.

Meanwhile, following the United States and the United Kingdom, even Canada has jumped into the fray. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed severe concerns, over the use of military force against the protesters in Hong Kong.
