India-US ties stronger than before, asserts US State Secretary Mike Pompeo 

New Delhi: – US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed satisfaction saying that the ties between India and the United States have never been as strong as today. Whereas, the US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster said that the United States is standing firm behind India in the India-China border dispute and announced that the United States would assist India in every possible way. In the meantime, reports are also being received that the United States is ready to supply long-range artillery guns for the Indian Navy. While there is an increase in the Chinese aggression, these messages from the United States are important from the military perspective.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had said during his India visit in June 2019 that India and the United States trying to see the world as it is. Both countries are also looking at each other with the same outlook. India and the United States are looking at each other as great democracies, world powers and friends. The developing cooperation between the two countries is beneficial not only for them but also for the entire world. At the same time, he claimed that the relations between India and the United States have become strong as never before and have gone beyond trade and military cooperation.  

Mike Pompeo praised Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar saying that he has contributed to improving relations between India and the United States. Whereas, US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster asserted that India has a special place in his country’s foreign policy. Mentioning that especially the Chinese activities on the Line of Actual Control are worrisome, he assured that the United States is standing firm behind India. Juster made a passing reference that the United States, India, Japan, and Australia form QUAD to counter the Chinese activities in the Indo-Pacific region.   

The US Ambassador said ‘The foundation laying for the cooperation to counter the current challenges in the Indo-Pacific sector has begun. In the next five years, the goal should be to strengthen this cooperation further and draw the sector’s limits. Ambassador Kenneth Juster claimed that India and the United States are knowingly increasing their defence cooperation to secure their borders and other countries.   

Ambassador Juster simultaneously targeted China and Pakistan with suggestive statements ‘India and the United States have the ideals of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. But all the countries do not think on these lines. Some are treading the path of self-destruction, whereas some choose the option of military aggression.’ Ambassador Juster claimed that this is why India and the United States are strengthening their defence cooperation. The US Ambassador mentioned the message delivered by the first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ Face injustice by increasing your own strength’.
