The United Kingdom exited the European Union on 31st January 2020. Thereafter, discussions are being held on both the sides as to what will be the relations between the United Kingdom and EU, since the last one year. Both are making aggressive statements and severe conflict is seen during the negotiations. No solutions could be worked out despite multiple urgent meetings between the two, over the last one month. But as there could not be agreement on three issues, it is said that the United Kingdom will not be signing an agreement with the EU.

A few days ago, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, visited the EU headquarters and held hours ling discussions with EU President Ursula Van Der Leyen, as a last-ditch effort. But nothing positive emerged even from this meeting. Within 24 hours of this meeting, the leaders from both sides gave clear indications to be prepared for a No Deal Brexit. It is said that there are differences between the United Kingdom and the EU over three issues. These are ‘Fishing Rights’, ‘Trade and Investment Regulations’ and ‘Dispute reddressal system’.

Against this background, the United Kingdom has decided for additional naval deployment. The main point of dispute between the United Kingdom and the EU is Fishing Rights. Moreover, French President Emmanuel Macron has taken an aggressive stance on this issue. Macron clarified that France would not give up the right for fishing in the British marine regions. But British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has warned that from 2021 fishing in the British maritime region will be entirely under British control.

The United Kingdom has decided to deploy gunboats in the English Channel and the Irish Sea. These boats have been given the rights to expel as well as seize the intruding boats. Along with the gunboats, orders have also been issued, to put Wildcat and Merlin helicopters, on stand-bye. The British officials, as well as leaders, have supported the decision.

Meanwhile, decline in the value of the Pound Sterling, the British currency, has been reported on the background of No Deal Brexit. The reduction has also been reported in the European stock markets, including the United Kingdom and indication are that this decline will continue in the next week.
