Indian Prime Minister and Russian President discuss Coronavirus

New Delhi: – On Wednesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephonic dialogue. During the conversation, the crisis created because of the Coronavirus was discussed by the two leaders. These discussions between the two leaders, just before the G-20 meet, are considered to be important. The number of Coronavirus cases in India, has gone above 650. Coronavirus is spreading in Russia too. There was an addition of 163 new cases, overnight, in Russia. Thereafter, the Russian president announced a holiday for seven days. But President Putin has not imposed a lockdown. Prime Minister Modi and President Putin discussed the Coronavirus crisis, against the background of these developments.

India and Russia have implemented strict measures against the Coronavirus pandemic. Both the leaders wished each other success on this front. Prime Minister Modi praised the Russian efforts for the safety of the Indian students in Russia. President Putin assured that Russia will continue to assist India, even in the future.

Meanwhile, health, scientific research, humanitarian aids and effects of the Pandemic on the global economy, were the issues that featured in the discussion between the two leaders. Both the leaders concurred on cooperation in these sectors. Prime Minister Modi and President Putin also discussed the cooperation between the two countries. Before this, Prime Minister Modi had telephonic discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, over the Coronavirus issue.
