Indian adversaries have ‘Cyber Army’: Union Home Minister Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that countries that do not want India to be secure had launched various cyberattacks against India. These countries have built their ‘Cyber Army’. But the Indian government is fully prepared to counter these attacks. India is enhancing its capabilities to stop such cyberattacks. Union Home Minister underlined the importance of cybersecurity, saying that the country’s security is connected to cybersecurity.

Union Home Minister pointed out that the importance of cybersecurity has increased tremendously while this digital revolution is happening in the country.

The number of scams and malpractices in the cyber sector will keep increasing with time. Therefore, more preparations will have to be made in cybersecurity because cybersecurity is connected with national security. The cyber sector is a big part of the country’s development. Union Home Minister clarified that this was why the government is attaching so much importance to cybersecurity.

Moreover, Cyberattacks are not new to the country. There have been cyberattacks in the past. Crimes like Malware attacks, internet phishing, cyberattacks on the infrastructural facilities in the country, and online scams may increase in the coming times. Meanwhile, 3,377 cybercrimes were recorded in the country in 2012. In contrast, the number increased beyond 50,000 in 2020. These are reported cybercrimes. Home Minister pointed out that the number of unreported cybercrimes could be more than a hundred thousand. The Home Minister reassured the population in this respect, saying that in this scenario, the Indian government has set an objective of developing the most secure cyber sector in the country.
